Plan child radio projects

Freedom of expression: ‘The child has the right to express his or her views, obtain information, make ideas or information known, regardless of frontiers’ United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, Article 13: Freedom of expression |
Our media programs in the developing world provide children with a platform to express themselves. Projects support young people in taking concrete actions to improve their lives, to become positive role models for both children and adults.
We support young people to develop communication skills, team work, creativity, confidence and powers of self-expression – skills that have relevance in everyday life.
Child radio
In many areas, radio is the only form of mass media reaching out to whole communities, demanding change. It is by far the most popular medium through which children and young people can get their messages across.
With the aim of involving children in the development process and promoting their rights, we first began to implement child media programs in 1995 with a radio project in Senegal. By enabling this involvement, children were no longer just recipients of development projects but participants. Our radio campaigns across the world have received international recognition from organisations including the One World Media Awards, New York Festivals and UNICEF.
Today we facilitate child radio projects in over 20 countries:
