May 2008: More than 50,000 people have been killed by an earthquake in Sichuan province, China.

The earthquake measured 7.9 on the Richter scale, causing thousands of buildings to collapse. Around 10,000,000 people have been affected.

Plan is helping the enormous recovery effort by providing post-disaster aid, including food, water, shelter, medicine, hygiene kits, blankets and clothes as well as psychosocial support for children.

Plan will also be involved in repairing and rebuilding schools, homes and other infrastructure damaged by the earthquake.
