The purpose of the event, which has been taking place for six years, is that through interaction between young people and other Nobel Peace Prize winners, they develop knowledge, skills and attitudes framed by a culture of peace contributing to the formation of new leaderships, especially in the indigenous communities, inspired by the lives and struggles of the Nobel Peace Prize winners.
The meeting between the young people and the Nobel Peace Prize winners, conceived as an educational, dynamic and intercultural experience, was just for youth from Guatemala. This time, through the efforts of Plan in Bolivia and the PeaceJam Foundation, the event drew some 2000 young people from Bolivia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, El Salvador, and Peru.
Oscar Arias, Jody Willias, Betty Williams, Adolfo Pérez Esquivel and Rigoberta Menchú, all Nobel Peace Prize winners, shared their lives with the young participants encouraging them to create more opportunities for participation.
