Plan in Brazil

Plan is a non-governmental organization, without political or religious affiliation, founded in 1937, and Brazil in 1997.  Today, we work in 66 countries to promote the rights of children through our Child-Centered Community Development methodology.

Plan directly assists more than 1,200,000 children, their families, and communities throughout the world.  Much of our work is made possible by the generous regular contributions of more than 1 million individuals.  These individual “sponsors” support our work in Africa, Asia, and Latin America, while establishing a personal relationship with a child and a family.  The sponsors are given the opportunity to follow the development of the child they support.

In Brazil, approximately 20,000 children are sponsored. Plan reaches and benefits more than 50,000 families in the communities where the sponsored children live through our programs.

Young Brazilian filmmakers
Two films created by two Brazilian adolescents were selected to participate in the Third Mercosur Audiovisual Festival: ‘Searching to survive’ and ‘Exploited lives’. The two videos give an approach on the problem of the garbage collectors and the sexual and commercial exploitation of boys, girls and adolescents in the Brazilian Northeast.

4th National Science and Technology Week
Plan Brazil supports the 4th National Science and Technology Week to stimulate the children about science and technology so that in the future they can become great scientists.

Campaign of Paternity is back in Pernambuco
Plan is helping to increase the registration in Pernambuco – Brazil with the campaign: "Be a Good Dad. Recognize".  The campaign provided mechanisms for fathers to recognize their children born out of wedlock.

Mother, father and child at registration centre He is my father – recognise this right!
In Brazil a mother cannot ask for child support if the child's father is not registered. Find out how our campaign is helping children and their families in Pernambuco
