Building relationships

Creating opportunities for children to participate in community development

Children’s rights continue to be a priority for Plan and last year we focused on reducing child labour and child abuse.  According to a recent survey in Cabo, 45 per cent of working children labour on sugar cane plantations and nearly three per cent work in dangerous industrial jobs.

To increase awareness that children have a right to education that is being prevented by this work, we supported Children’s Circles. Here, over 7,000 young people learn about their rights and other issues through art, games, lectures and group activities.
