Nine candidates answered the call. The 8-points’ commitment is that whoever wins should work for the infants, young children and adolescents, as individuals having rights, as well as guarantee resources for their protection. Furthermore, he should repeat, execute and evaluate public policies in favour of children and adolescents.
The act was attended by boys and girls belonging to the communities of the Nelson Mandela, Membrillal, Tierra Baja and Comuna 15 neighbourhoods in Cartagena, who actively participated with questions and statements during the candidates’ exposition on the kind of administration being carried out by governors in their regions.
Candidates committed themselves to promote children’s rights within families and society, in order that they are well-known and respected.
“Last year I attended an event with candidates for Mayor, they promised a lot of things, but forgot everything that they promised. I hope that this year the person that wins elections really takes us into account, because the boys and girls from Membrillal need support for education and recreation”, Angie O.– Community from Membrillal.
“I think that this year we will have a male mayor or a female mayor that is committed; breakfast served to sign a pact, which is very important, they know about our needs, they listened to us and I hope that they keep their promises”, Johnatan C. – Commune 15
