Building relationships
Creating opportunities for children to participate in community development
Last year, communities started a project to guide teenagers who seemed to be having serious relationship problems with their parents and peers, or who were involved with illegal gangs or substance abuse. Eighty young people and 60 teachers participated in training workshops and will now visit schools and communities to discuss difficult issues with other teenagers.
One of the participants, 15-year-old Wilfred, explained what happened in this training stage:
"We learned about different ways to communicate, through drama, workshops and talks. The training showed us how to become leaders."
