Building relationships

Creating opportunities for children to participate in community development

Plan has taken a lead role in ensuring that Nicaraguan children’s voices are heard. In the past year alone, more than 8,000 children had the opportunity to participate in ongoing learning, recreational or cultural activities that promote and increase awareness of children’s rights. Child-centred art, theatre and dance activities, training in radio and television, and a variety of sports activities gave children the opportunity to be heard on a range of topics.

Community volunteers make a difference

Community volunteers are a very important part of Plan’s work. Over 60,000 volunteers worldwide have been trained to work on projects. They are trained to work with us and are at the front-line of our work.
