Growing up healthy
Ensuring children’s survival, protection and healthy development
Many of our health projects in China focus on ensuring that children have access to basic health care. In the Yu Lin region, for example, there was an urgent need for medicines. We supported a project last year to provide supplies of essential medicines to 10 village health centres, benefiting more than 3,400 people.
We also organised for 3,900 children to receive eye and ear check-ups. Of these, 134 children received timely treatment for problems. As one happy mother, Zhang Hua Qin, explained:
“My child could only say ‘Papa’ previously, and other children called him a ‘deaf child’. After Plan’s help with the hearing aid and the training, he was able to say over 10 words in only one month.”
