Livelihood

Improving children’s welfare by increasing family income and food security

Part of our efforts in China includes helping families to increase their incomes to support their children. In Jia county, 56 of the women we work with used traditional skills to produce wonderful examples of local handicrafts. Last year, Plan arranged for them to be trained in marketing techniques. They learned what products would sell, how much they should cost and where the buyers might be. These women are now selling their products and developing more self-confidence. As Xie, one mother, explained:

“Now that my pocket is getting bigger, I can send my children to school.”
