Helping children, youth and adults learn and develop life skills

Many children, especially girls, drop out of school in this country, mainly because their parents can’t afford to pay for school fees and supplies. In big cities, such as Delhi, the children end up wandering on the streets or working (if they can find work), despite laws against child labour.

Last year we started a project to get some of these children back into school. The project was a complex undertaking, as the children needed health care, counselling, guidance and teaching facilities. However, the project was a success, as dozens of children returned to school. As one student put it:

"Before joining the centre we were just wandering here and there and we had left studies completely. Now, we are inspired to study and we want to study to the tenth standard."
