Building relationships

Creating opportunities for children to participate in community development

The lack of understanding of child rights and child participation here is basically down to lack of information.  One way of sharing this information is through the weekly on-hour radio programme, written and broadcast by children, which is dedicated to improving awareness of children’s rights.  As 13 year-old Rowena explained:

“Through the radio programme, we learn about our rights, responsibilities and laws, which will help us in our development, in influencing other children to get involved and in encouraging the government to support children’s causes.”
