Tsunami recovery in India
Updated December 2005

Plan is working with more than 80,000 people in three areas, Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, and Andhra Pradesh

  • Health – supporting more than 250 communities with their health needs
  • Livelihood – helping fishing and farming communities to reclaim livelihoods
  • Psychosocial support – training counselors and operating a Child Helpline
  • Education – set up 24 child care centres for under fives and providing school kits
  • Habitat – providing clean water, sanitiation and community development planning Child Rights – formed 60 children’s clubs and photography/video activities
