Two years ago 10 year old Khanh was diagnosed with myasthenia, leaving him paralyzed from the waist down and unable to walk. His parents sold most of their Hanoi land to pay for trips to the hospital for operations and medical tests. However, they still did not have enough money to buy Khanh a wheel chair, which meant his family and friends had to carry him to and from school and into classrooms.
"Every day my friends and I help Khanh to move around the school by carrying him on our backs to our classroom. I also take him to the computer lab and carry him back to our classroom after the lesson"
Following Plan’s Integrating Children with Disabilities program there is more awareness of children with disabilities and more support provided for them and their families. Thankfully, the business sector and local government in Khanh’s community worked together to raise the needed funds to buy Khanh a wheel chair. Khanh is now able to move around with his friends and regularly attend his local school. He loves to learn and has become an excellent student. Khanh’s teachers and friends are very proud of Khanh and are always willing to help him.
“My friends and I like to help Khanh study. We often stay and play with him in our classroom during playtime to cheer him up. We like to help Khanh as his is our friend and has difficulty moving."
