Joy of going back to school for teacher dreamer

12 year old Huong experienced a double tragedy when her father and mother passed on late last year. Huong was left feeling lonely and helpless, for not only had she lost both her parents but she had to support her two younger sisters and her 80 year old grandmother.

Unfortunately the family’s savings were not enough to meet their basic needs like food, clothing, school fees, so Huong decided to leave school and begin working in the field. Her days were long and lonely, and she missed her classmates and teachers, but Huong knew her first priority was to provide for her family.

Plan Vietnam called on the local community in Ha Nam Province including the Provincial Education Department, An Noi School and the Commune People’s Committee to help support Huong and her family, so Huong could return to school and complete her education. 

The community was quick to help by offering to cover the cost of Huong School fees and text books, while Plan supported the family by funding their basic needs. Thanks to the community’s generous support Huong is now back to school and is renowned amongst her peers and teachers as a very dedicated student. 

“Thanks to everyone’s support my family are now safe. Plus, I am able to be around my friends, complete my studies and hopefully one day become an excellent teacher” said Huong.
