The Vietnamese President, Nguyen Minh Triet, has said Plan had contributed a lot to improving the welfare and life of children in Vietnam over the years and he was “highly appreciative” of our work and country representatives.

Hosting Tom Miller, in the Presidential Palace, the President added that in preparing a better future for the people of Vietnam: “children had been prioritised because they are the owners and future of the country. In that way, our priorities match the priorities and mandate of Plan

Briefing the President on Plan’s activities, the CEO told how we had helped improve the lives of tens of thousands of children, families and communities in 13 provinces and cities nationwide; and in the establishment of hundreds of schools and crèches. He also spoke of our intention to expand in the coming decade.

The CEO based our success on the close co-operation with relevant Vietnamese organisations, the efforts of Plan’s staff in the country, and our working with children, and not for children.

The President also expressed his desire to see Plan continue and expand its operations and activities and called Plan “a friend of Vietnam.”
