Habitat

Building secure, safe and healthy environments for children

Although most Albanians have access to clean drinking water, many families in rural areas do not. Children who contract waterborne diseases face serious illnesses and even death if they do not get treatment.

Last year, we helped communities build six new water systems to be used by 260 families.  Another five water projects that had been started two years ago were also completed for 820 families. Children in these communities now have access to clean water. Plan has also trained a committee in each community to ensure that the water systems will continue to function and are properly maintained after Plan’s support comes to an end.
