Improving children’s welfare by increasing family income and food security

Our focus this year has been to support farmers following the drought here.  A total of 3,629 farmers were trained in sustainable agriculture – where emphasis was on use of locally available resources to improve production, better farming practices, animal husbandry, fodder production, storage and general farming.

Another project focused on improving farm irrigation systems in two communities. This project was crucial as we work in extremely dry regions in Kenya. Emphasis was put on how best to operate and manage the irrigation projects so that farmers could maintain them over the long term. Improved farming techniques will increase the amount of food available to children and their families.
