Typical projects: working with communities in Malawi

In partnership with communities, our purpose is to find ways to reduce poverty, and enable everone to access their basic rights. We focus on improving food security, improving women and children’s health, increasing access to education and income generation.

Plan currently works in Lilongwe and Kasungu in the central region, and Mzuzu in the North.

Free hot breakfasts at school are resulting in thousands more children receiving an education in Malawi

Diversifying crops
Diversifying crops can help improve food security: this is one of the creative ways we are finding to help communities prepare for insufficient rainfall, a fate which has befallen Malawi for the past three years

Preparing for poor harvests
To prepare for instances of poor harvest, Plan is working to support communities that rely on farming for their livelihood. A bad harvest can mean the difference between healthy and sick children. Sometimes, it can mean the difference between life and death

Malawi children in parliament
Plan believes that when children have something to say their views should be listened to by their parents, by the communities and even by their governments
