Building relationships

Creating opportunities for children to participate in community development

Plan organised sporting activities, traditional dances, poetry, drama, and public speaking contests for hundreds of children last year. One community member, Mrs Gowa, commented:

“We thought Plan was only for big projects, like buildings and footbridges. We did not realise that children are so important to Plan – to the extent of funding children’s playing and leisure activities. I am mesmerised.”

Performance art and dance speaks a thousand words
In Zimbabwe, Plan works with children to develop programs specifically with the aim of raising awareness of sensitive or complicated issues such as HIV/AIDS, child abuse, teenage pregnancy, and child labour
