Building relationships

Creating opportunities for children to participate in community development

Last year, Plan began a series of activities to promote children’s rights that brought about a significant improvement in the condition and rights of women and children in Benin.  President Kerekou and the government of Benin have paid more attention to children’s issues and have recently addressed the United Nations about child rights. Plan, in collaboration with UNICEF and the government, are now following up on the pledges made.

Ingrid is a child leading of Radio Tokpa, which broadcasts shows about children’s rights.  She said:

“I am happy about this initiative Plan took to raise awareness about the rights of children. I am even happier now, as children are involved in this activity.”
