Learning

Helping children, youth and adults learn and develop life skills

About 40 per cent of Benin’s children do not attend primary school. In the areas where Plan works, where parents have such a low income that they cannot afford basic school supplies, the number is even higher.

Last year, therefore, we distributed 30,200 sets of school equipment (notebooks, pencils, pens and bags) to students. These supplies will help their education and keep more children in school.

At the same time, 12 Parent Teacher Associations (PTAs) have been established and trained by a local organisation in partnership with Plan. These PTAs are now actively involved in the education of their children. Equally, 144 teachers were trained in teaching and classroom management strategies, including lesson planning and preparation.
