Plan celebrates 30 years in Burkina
It took place in Plan’s Burkina new premises with the entire press, children, artists and Plan staff also present.
They came, not only in communion with Plan for 30 years’ devotion to children and communities, showcased during its open house organized at the same time, but also to greet six other individuals and organizations who have helped children in Burkina Faso. Inspired by the Plan Benin “Be a Part of It” awards, Plan Burkina honored these individuals and organizations with a trophy and, in some cases, a monetary prize to help them in their work with children.
Among the individuals thus awarded is UNICEF Representative Joan French who received the honorary special prize for Advocacy, and a traditional chief, His Majesty Larlé Naaba Tigré, who also received the honorary personality prize for his efforts towards education.
Three other local associations were offered funding of one of their projects up to $10.000 These were: The Education Promotion Award won by the Association pour la Réinsertion des enfants de la rue (ANERSER)
The Country Director Award won by the Be- Sida orphanage from the city of Ouagadougou
The Child survival Award won by the Centre Rakièta le lutte contre le SIDA, from the city of Banfora
The Child Rights and Child Protection Award amounting to $15000 given to the Association des Enfants et Jeunes travailleurs) based in Ouagadougou.
Reading out the Prime Minister’s speech to the 500 large audience, the Economy and Development Minister congratulated Plan for its consistent help to Burkina Faso, “that got stronger and stronger over the years, something rare among development organizations”.
