Habitat

Building secure, safe and healthy environments for children

Burkina Faso is a very dry country, with low rainfall and very frequent water problems. Only about 35 per cent of people living in rural areas have access to clean drinking water and many children catch life-threatening diseases from contaminated water.

Last year, we teamed up with local groups to drill 27 new wells and establish more than 200 water-management committees to repair and maintain existing water sources.  As a result, fewer children and their families are becoming ill.
