Livelihood

Improving children’s welfare by increasing family income and food security

The livelihood of many farmers in Cameroon depends on agricultural know-how – and on the sharp cutlasses used to harvest the crops. Last year, one project involved providing 28 farmers with expert advice about crop yields. The farmers also received new cutlasses, the importance of which was described by Kondeh Oliver:

“It’s been so long since I had a new cutlass. The one I have has been filed so much it’s no longer effective.”

Most of the farmers later reported an increase in crop yields of about 20 per cent, which will help them better provide for their children.
