Habitat

Building secure, safe and healthy environments for children

About 40 per cent of Ghanaian families in rural areas do not have access to clean drinking water. Last year, Plan worked with communities to build 26 wells in more than a dozen communities. Today, 6,600 more people have access to clean water. Borehole Committees have also been established to oversee the work and ensure proper maintenance.  The impact has been marked, as Dademantse explained:

“My heart is rejoicing. Women and children will have some respite from walking long distances to get water. I am sure our ancestors will be equally happy in their graves, for this is a wish that eluded them.”
