Ousmane, Plan Guinea's Country Coordinator |

This message came from Mr. Ousmane Raymond Seye, Plan Guinea's new Country Coordinator
Excerpts from an interview taken in autumn 2003:
What is your mission? - I have the mission to continue the tremendous work undertaken by my predecessor, Fritz Foster, to strengthen and broaden Plan’s activities for the welfare of children. You have been working for Plan in Senegal before? - Yes, I was manager of a Plan program area called Thiès (about 100km from the capital Dakar). What are your impressions? - Honestly, I am happy. With what I have seen so far in Guinea, I can testify that the Program work is really the property of the communities, the true projects’ owners. I think we must reinforce this fact and feel proud of the laudable achievements made.
Any hobby? - I practice basketball, walking and reading. What I love most is to be able to share the best I have with others; to open up to others means adding value to your life, growing. Your last word! - We must continue to do things that make us proud. This is essential to a dynamic team. We have to strengthen, broaden and reinforce all activities for the betterment of children.

These and dozens of other projects in Guinea were carried out thanks to the generosity and commitment of sponsors across the world.
A few more examples of last year’s achievements:
- Community health workers completed nearly 40,000 health education sessions for more than one million people, teaching them how to avoid life-threatening diseases
- Community health workers helped families build 3,200 latrines to improve sanitation in the communities
- The health workers also monitored the growth of 31,000 children at risk of malnutrition
