Niger is a West African country with two-thirds of its land area occupied by the Sahara desert.
Niger is a landlocked and semiarid West African country. Its economy centers on subsistence farming and livestock production. Some 67% of its population lives on less than $1.00 a day.
Plan operates in 63 villages located in southwestern part of the country to make access to education easy for children, to raise awareness about improving their nutrition and preventing common diseases such as malaria and diarrhea. Plan also works to provide communities with clean water and has created over 9000 women saving groups to help households generate additional income and improve, this way, children’s well being.
