Helping children, youth and adults learn and develop life skills

Poverty-stricken adults in the city of Dakar, especially women, cannot improve their incomes because there is nowhere for them to leave their children while they work.  Equally, young children are not benefiting from a pre-school environment.  Last year, we worked with the communities to build 19 early childhood care and development centres.  Thirty-nine people were also given training in such vital areas as nutrition for young children, first aid, child development and hygiene.  With these skills, they can run the centres, which are invaluable for the physical, emotional and social development of children in their early years.
