Tundu Joor at the St Louis festival

30,000 people attending the Tundu Joor concert

From the 25th to the 27th of Mai, St Louis held its annual and prestigious Jazz festival, bringing together musicians from all over the world. This year's concert was dedicated to the theme of child protection and provided a great opportunity for the Tundu Joor's young rappers to advocate for child rights. Their message was 'I want to go to school, I don't want to beg', referring to the increasing problem of begging children ("Talibe") in Senegal. Spontaneously, dozens of Talibe part of the audience joined them with adult musicians on stage to give testimonies about their situation.

71 adolescents advocating with Plan

Tundu Joor gathers 71 gifted adolescents from marginalized settings in a project engaging them in the production of rap music to advocate for child rights. They were trained by professional artists who continue to support them during the Tundu Joor tour that will go around the entire country.

Performing for the African Union

The young performers made astounding break dance performance and stroke the public with their powerful messages. It is not the first time Tundu Joor entertained a huge public: Already in 2006 the rappers performed at the national stadium in front of 50 000 people as well as in front of the Heads of African state on the occasion of the African Union summit in Gambia.
