Livelihood

Improving children’s welfare by increasing family income and food security

Plan has been working with the poorest families in Togo to help them increase their incomes. In particular, we continued to support a loan programme for rural women, in which money was used to start small businesses such as tailoring and to deal with medical emergencies.

The loan program helps and encourages families to plan and take control of their own futures and to provide a more secure environment for their children to grow up in. Last year, 8,600 small loans were distributed.
