Plan and Nokia global partnership
Plan and Nokia, a world leader in mobile communications, have been in partnership since 2006 to empower and develop youth in Africa.
Providing young people with the tools and skills necessary to communicate about what is important to them will enable them to become active citizens and to have a say in decisions that affect their lives.
Plan and Nokia promote the access to and use of various media such as radio, music video, the internet, mobile devices and television, as these are vital elements in empowering youth.

Kids Waves – a radio show made and broadcast in 8 countries across West Africa – is just one example of how the Plan and Nokia partnership is helping children to speak out.
In each country, the show is produced in a different community almost every week. Children from the selected community are trained in child rights, radio production and hosting techniques before being involved in all aspects of producing the show.
Each Kids Waves focuses on an aspect of child rights - such as health, education or protection - and explains the responsibilities of everyone to help improve children’s lives.
Millions of listeners have been reached by the shows and around 2,000 people attend each recording.
Long-term benefits
Plan’s chief executive officer Tom Miller said: “Plan is committed to working in partnerships, not only with local groups or governments in the countries where we work, but also with like-minded corporate organisations like Nokia.
"I believe that this cooperation will deliver long-term sustainable benefits for hundreds of communities in the developing world.”
