Plan has been operating in Asia since 1948. In 2005, Plan operated in 12 countries across Asia in thousands of very poor, usually rural, communities working with the children, adults, local partners and government organisations to fight child poverty and help children realise their full potential.

From 2005-2015, Plan is channelling around US$ 1 billion of funds to its operations in Asia. The Growing Up In Asia strategic framework provides Plan staff, and all who work with or contribute to Plan, with a single reference that captures the breadth of interventions needed to tackle child poverty in Asia in the next 10 years.
