Welcome to Plan Albania
Plan started working in Albania in 1994 to provide a humanitarian response to the collapse of the communist regime. Operations were strengthened in 1997 to respond to the Kosovo war crisis and within 2 years Plan was rolling out long-term programmes to help children living in poverty.
In 2005 Plan Albania supported the foundation of a high profile national child centred non-governmental organisation - Qendra Femijet Sot (QFS).
Plan has a cooperation agreement with QFS which includes technical and financial assistance and a transferral of assets. QFS is now fully operational and implements a range of programmes which respond to Plan Albania’s Country Strategic Plan.
Plan will support QFS up to June 2009, when the new organisation will be self-reliant and mobilise its own funds.
As Plan is phasing out its work in Albania, its current programmes are restricted to grants based actions, such as the implementation of education for child rights awareness raising, child social participation and school improvement.
